New Integration for Music Sharing
spotify and instagram are collaborating on a new feature that lets users share the music they’re listening to in real time. currently, streaming apps like apple music and spotify allow users to share songs via posts or stories on instagram. this new feature, however, takes it a step further.
How It Works
users will soon be able to connect their instagram accounts to spotify. when linked, spotify will automatically create a new note displaying the song currently playing. these notes will appear in the user’s dm tab or profile for others to see.

developer and app researcher alessandro paluzzi spotted this new “share from spotify” feature. the feature will let users “continuously share what they’re listening to” and gives them the option to “stop sharing at any time.” though it’s not available yet, it is expected to launch soon.
Comparison to MSN
this feature reminds me of the old msn messenger, which showed friends the song you were listening to. having this back on instagram sounds pretty exciting.
